AMBASSADORS OF HOPE

Hope – an option to look forward to.

My hope is that one day, access to education won’t be the be all and end all, but it will prove that not everyone has to go down the same path. I hope that we don’t allow things such as background, race, gender, religion to define who we are as individuals and that our opinions and beliefs will become fluid enough to at least hear another person’s view point and remain open minded.

Hope to me, means that there is an opportunity, an option to look forward to. Something will always come, most likely in the form of an obstacle at first, but with that comes the opportunity to overcome those obstacles and the option to choose another direction.

In my teenage years, I was classed as a person who would have little hope for the future because of my socioeconomic background. I was told I wouldn’t achieve past my target grades and wouldn’t go on to higher education because I wasn’t smart enough. Hope helped me see that these targets and things people say are just obstacles to get past. Hope helped me set my own targets and gave me the determination to push myself beyond what people thought because of where I came from.

My hope is and always will be that no individual is ever restricted. That they can have goals and dreams and as long as they have the drive to get there that they will. I hope that everyone remains curious about everything so that we are encouraged to go out into the world and learn more than what we absorb from our everyday environments.
