AMBASSADORS OF HOPE
My dream is to be a Headteacher
I decided to be a teacher; someone who wants to champion the next generation. It doesn't stop here, but the destination is to be in a role of leadership, where I can serve my community. To both motivate and mobilise staff, students and parents/careers to evolve to be better.
Johnoi Josephs – London
My dream is to be a Headteacher. I aspire to not only be what I’ve rarely seen but to use that position to implement strategies that meet the needs of a generation to come.
I was born in Jamaica, and I came to the UK at the age of seven, with the shared anticipation of a better life. A few years after migrating to live with my father and half-siblings, I found myself taking on additional responsibilities within my household. This was due to my father being absent for a few years, and my eldest sister leaving home. In this period, my stepmother and I did what was possible to help my other siblings.
It was during this time that I realised I was ok in living a life serving others. I remember saying to myself that I wanted to be rich so that I could help other people and not necessarily keep it for myself.
This sense of altruism developed, and it led me to work for a fantastic organisation NCS for six years. From this, I decided to be a teacher; someone who wants to champion the next generation. It doesn’t stop here, but the destination is to be in a role of leadership, where I can serve my community. To both motivate and mobilise staff, students and parents/careers to evolve to be better.
