AMBASSADORS OF HOPE

Sharing my Black experience.

My dream is to be an author. Most of all, I hope to leave an impact on someone. To encourage others to use their voice and push for change because that’s exactly how the world will continue to force equity amongst the bigger nations.

Rachel – London

My ultimate life-long dream that I hope to achieve one day is to be a best-selling author. To have my novels printed in multiple languages across the world and to write about the Black experience how I see it through my own eyes as a young Black girl. That’s my dream.

Now, I know it will probably take time. Writing a best-selling novel doesn’t happen in two weeks. It can take years to nurture a novel that truly speaks from the heart. So whilst I write, I decided to do the next best thing.
I created The Black Book Blog as a platform to encourage readers to diversify their bookshelves. I write book reviews on books by predominantly Black authors and also, offer some of my own thoughts on why I feel representation is important. It’s no secret that the publishing industry is predominantly white and in such a diverse world, change is overdue.

Books are often the foundations for learning as a child. Growing up, I was fortunate that my parents sought out books with people that looked like me. However, I know that if you aren’t an avid reader it can be difficult to know where to start in terms of finding books about your own experience.

I hope to continue to diversify the publishing world with my blog. I hope to sell best-selling novels around the world about the Black experience. But most of all, I hope to leave an impact on someone. To encourage others to use their voice and push for change because that’s exactly how the world will continue to force equity amongst the bigger nations.
