AMBASSADORS OF HOPE
Dreams of being a dance teacher.
One day I hope to open up my own dance academy and I love learning new skills within filmmaking, editing and photography. I am determined to keep developing, even when I’m told I can’t do something, and I hope you are too!
John Hoey – Salford
From a young age I knew I loved dance. Dance is my passion and being creative is in my blood. During my time in education I wasn’t encouraged to pursue my passions as a career option, I was told that if I didn’t complete my studies, I could say goodbye to my dreams of being a dance teacher. But I was motivated to try.
As a young carer I had support from other organisations that have helped to empower me and build up my skills and confidence. Over the past 5 years I have assisted dance facilitators as a volunteer, I have learnt how to project manage my own hip-hop dance workshops and run performances for my local community. I’ve put myself forward for training, work placements and new projects, whilst working part-time.
From the support of partner organisations, I successfully passed my dance teaching qualification and am now a fully qualified dance coach within a team based at Salford Community Leisure. One day I hope to open up my own dance academy and I love learning new skills within filmmaking, editing and photography. I am determined to keep developing, even when I’m told I can’t do something, and I hope you are too!
